{"id":93929,"date":"2025-02-20T16:20:27","date_gmt":"2025-02-20T16:20:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\/all-news\/umsc-refutes-claims-of-financial-mismanagement"},"modified":"2025-03-13T12:57:38","modified_gmt":"2025-03-13T12:57:38","slug":"umsc-refutes-claims-of-financial-mismanagement","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/uganda\/all-news\/umsc-refutes-claims-of-financial-mismanagement","title":{"rendered":"UMSC Refutes Claims of Financial Mismanagement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Uganda. <\/strong><\/span><b>The Uganda Muslim Supreme Council (UMSC) has dismissed as false and malicious recent allegations concerning the management and financial handling of the council.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>In a statement issued by UMSC spokesperson Ashiraf Zziwa, the council emphasized that all financial decisions are made following an approved budget, with no spending allowed without express council approval.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;The Mufti and the national management committee have no mandate whatsoever to spend without the council&#8217;s approval,&#8221; Zziwa clarified.<\/p>\n<p>The statement further addressed claims that UMSC received Shs 22 billion, stating that the council\u2019s total revenue for 2024, including government compensations and other income, amounted to Shs19 billion.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, UMSC denied allegations of spending Shs11.5 billion on legal cases, asserting that the Council has no ongoing case with or against Sheikh Semambo.<\/p>\n<p>However, UMSC acknowledged a separate case involving three Muslims, including an individual named Yudaya, which followed due legal process.<\/p>\n<p>Zziwa criticised some members of the Muslim community for allegedly spreading misinformation for selfish interests.<\/p>\n<p>Citing verses from the Quran and Hadith, the spokesperson condemned the dissemination of falsehoods, warning of the dangers of hypocrisy and division.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Spreading unfounded accusations harms the unity and peace of our community. Islam strongly condemns such acts,&#8221; Zziwa state.<\/p>\n<p>He referenced Quranic teachings that urge believers to verify information before passing judgment.<\/p>\n<p>The UMSC called on all Muslims to avoid rumors and engage in constructive dialogue to resolve concerns responsibly.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;As Muslims, we are guided by the principles of truth, justice, and integrity.
