Africa-Press – Zambia. Gospel group Great Angels Choir starts what it dubs ‘Nza Yahweh’ nationwide tour this Sunday at Robins Park in Blantyre.
The show will see them sharing the stage with other acts such as Ndirande Anglican Voices, Wycliffe Chimwendo, Limbani Simenti, Thocco Katimba and Ethel Kamwendo Banda.
The group’s music director Ephraim Zonda said Thursday having been on a long break due to Covid, they are happy to entertain people with gospel vibes.
Zonda said the show will also give people a chance to sample their new songs which they dropped on the market off their yet to be released album Ufumu Umodzi Siuukilana.
“This is also more like a pre-launch as we look ahead to our album launch next month. Apart from this, we also just want to celebrate with our fans,” he said.
Zonda also said gospel concerts have been scarce, hence coming out.
“It has also been sometime since we performed in Blantyre. We are ready and we just want to call upon people to come. We will make sure that we follow all the necessary precautionary measures,” Zonda said.
He also said that they would have released the new album earlier but they were affected by Covid.
“We are sure that end July the album will be ready. Again, the album got affected because of the demise of our producer Joseph Tembo and then our new producer Amos Mlolowah also got tied up with other projects,” Zonda said.
The album Ufumu Umodzi Siuukilana is the group’s fifth collection. The other previous albums are Gwireni Dzanja, Ndiyende Bwanji and Mwasankha Ine.
