Africa-PressZambia. Former Republican president Rupiah Banda’s son, Andrew, says his father will have to take over to fill into the big shoes of the late founding father Dr Kenneth Kaunda to unite a polarised nation.

Speaking with Daily Revelation, Andrew said he feels for his father that he has to fit into the big shoes of Dr Kaunda, as the sole remaining former president and elder statesman.

“It’s not really me, it’s also you he’s your father too. I feel for my father that he has to take up the responsibility and fill into the shoes of KK, which are big. He’s the only one remaining to unite this country which is polarised, and we need to pray for him to get well,” Andrew said. “He must continue with the legacy of KK, and for him having been brought up by KK, this will not be a difficult task to undertake. I have also come here to visit as close member of the family.”

And Andrew has described as unethical those posting stories that his father has passed away in Dubai, where he is receiving colon cancer treatment. “He’s in good spirit and I would like to appeal to colleagues posting things on social media that before they publicise something so sensitive it’s important to verify information with the family and even with government, especially that he is a former state president,” said Andrew. “That’s evil and unChristian. Why would one pride in wanting to announce the death of another human being? Today it be him tomorrow it may be you.” In picture: late founding father Dr Kenneth Kaunda’s son Tilyenji with former president Rupiah Banda’s son, Andrew at KK’s funeral house
