Africa-Press – Zambia. Ruling UPND Deputy National Youth Chairperson, Steven Chikota has called on the Luapula Province Police Command to withdraw state security from Bayan mining in Chembe district accusing the foreign owned mining company of conducting illegal mining activities.

This follows mining rights wrangles that erupted in Chembe after local miners discovered a mineral called Sugilite. Yesterday, Mr. Chikota and other senior UPND Luapula Province party officials visited the mining site where police in riot gear prevented the group from touring the mining.

Speaking to Journalists, Mr. Chikota maintained that there are cabinet ministers who he did not name but accused the said ministers of aiding Bayan Mining Company Limited to conduct illegal Mining Activities.
