Chris Mall Welcomes EU Recommendation For Zambia To Phase Out G12 Qualification Requirement

Africa-Press – Zambia. Lusaka businessman and PF member Crispin Chinda has welcomed the recommendations by the European Union -EU-Observer Mission that Zambia should phase out the Grade 12 requirement for one to stand as a Member of Parliament.

In an interview, Chinda said the Grade 12 requirement had disadvantaged a lot of people who wanted to contest in the 2021 general elections. He charged that people should not be discriminated based on their qualifications because leadership is not determined by one’s qualifications but by their wisdom.

“Ofcourse as a country we need to encourage our young people to go to school and obtain good grades but leadership as we all know that sometimes back in the UNIP days we had people with wisdom and our Chiefs used wisdom in presiding over their people,” Chinda said.

And Chinda who is popularly known as Chris Mall has also welcomed the recommendation by the EU Observer Mission for the county to reduce nomination fees saying the K15,000 requirement had disadvantaged aspiring candidates who were financially constrained.
