Africa-Press – Zambia. President of PeP Sean Tembo has heightened his defamation campaign against Republican President Hakainde Hichilema, this time accusing him of influencing the Judiciary in awarding compensation to Chief Mukuni’s wife Queen Victoria Mukuni.
Queen Victoria and three others were last year detained by the Zambia Police over unproven allegations that they had hidden the Hatembo siblings Pheluna and Milton.
The PF government and embattled FDD leader Edith Nawakwi had falsely claimed that the then UPND opposition leader Hakainde Hichilema had defrauded the Hatembos over 40 years earlier, over some farm land in Kalomo District of Southern Zambia. The Hatembos refused to cooperate with the PF and then went underground claiming their lives were in grave danger.
Edith Nawakwi thereafter held a series of press conferences where she claimed that the Hatembos had been kidnapped by Hichilema inorder to prevent them from testifying against him.
The Police undertook a manhunt for the Hatembos and subsequently detained Queen Victoria and Ackson Sejani for long periods of time without offering them bond or producing them before it. They accused them of facilitating the ‘kidnapping’ of the Hatembos.
The Court ordered that they be produced before court and discharged them after it was found there was no evidence connecting them to the ‘kidnapping’ of Pheluna and Milton Hatembo.
In a series of Facebook messages, Tembo claims the President has influenced the awarding of compensation to the Queen because her husband, senior Chief Mukuni is Hakainde Hichilema’s business partner and the Zambian Attorney General is the traditional leader’s nephew. Tembo has offered zero evidence.
