Africa-Press – Zambia. THE new National Democratic Congress leadership today visited the UPND Alliance secretariate where its president George Sichula reaffirmed the party’s total support to the Alliance.
UPND Alliance secretary Kaluba Simuyemba who welcomed the entourage headed by Sichula dispelled rumours that there was confusion among Alliance partners.
Simuyemba advised NDC immediate past president Mwenye Musenge not to consider himself an outsider as he was still a member of the Alliance. He said the Alliance has procedures it uses to admit members to its ranks.
Simuyemba said it was not automatic that any person who declared interest to join the Alliance would be admitted. And speaking at the same function, Sichula thanked the secretariat for opening its doors to the NDC.
He maintained that the NDC was still a member of the Alliance, adding that it was the reason he decided to pay a courtesy at the secretariate. Sichula said the NDC was one of the first political parties that vowed to partner with the UPND.
“UPND’s good policies have created the good environment for business and with this, the private sector will be revived. NDC will not be silent on the good works being done by the UPND government. We will go out to sensitise the people not only of the the UPND good thing to the people but also to convince the opposition about the good things done by the UPND,” said Sichula. “Challenges happening in the process of advancing change are normal and will soon pass. NDC will support the interest of government and all activities in totality. What has made the President scrutinise the people is the issue of trust. NDC does not need any clearance to be part of the UPND Alliance.”
