Cornelius Mweetwa Believes That We Owe Him A Debt Of Gratitude For Freedom Of Speech- Hon Brian Mundubile

Africa-Press – Zambia. Following assertions from UPND spokesperson Cornelius Mweetwa who thinks the PF MPs owe him for being allowed to express themselves, Hon Brian Mundubile says freedom of speech is enshrined in the Constitution.

Leader of the opposition in Parliament noted a tradition in the ruling UPND where they want to make people think they are the reason that Zambians are expressing themselves.

Hon Mundubile said it is only the Constitution that accords people such liberties. He said this when he and other PF MPs addressed the media at Parliament today.

“Freedom of speech alongside other liberties are enshrined in our constitution. Let nobody tell you that they are doing you a favor when they allow you to speak. It has become a tradition in the UPND where they want to tell you that now there is peace, now you can speak,” he said.

“Nobody, not an individual, not a political party, not even the government but the republican constitution Accords you those liberties. So for a colleague like fellow counsel Cornelius Mweetwa believes that we owe him a debt of gratitude for this freedom, it is laughable.” He said there is no amount of intimidation that will calm the MPs from the opposition.

“He should know by now that we have never been cowards, never and we will never be cowards. We are here to serve. There is no amount of intimidation that is going to calm us down when it comes to providing service and acting on behalf of the people that elected us,” he said. Hon Mundubile said the MPs will continue making use of the platform so that Zambians are well informed about what is happening in the country.
