Africa-Press – Zambia. Zambia Women National Team will be aiming to top group B when they take on Togo this evening in their final group encounter. The Copper Queens are coming from a 1-0 win over Tunisia and have already qualified for the quarter-finals.
Togo on the other hand managed to pick an important one point against Cameroon and will be looking to record their first win of the tournament and progress to the next round.
Head coach Bruce Mwape says his lasses are aiming to top the group and will target a win against Togo. “The players want to win the game against Togo so that we are top of the group and go with that morale in the quarter-finals,” he said.
“The girls are ready for any team. From the time we started the team has been improving with each game so we expect them to do much better against Togo.”
“We need to be serious and not underrate them because if we lose it will dampen the morale of our players going into the quarter-finals,” he added.
The players and officials yesterday had a feel of the Stade Prince Heritier Moulay El Hassan 24 hours before tonight’s 2022 TotalEnergies WAFCON Group B encounter against Togo.
Mwape is expected to make minimal changes if any today. Hazel Nali is expected to start between the sticks. Martha Tembo, Margaret Belemu, Lushomo Mweemba, and Agnes Musesa are expected to make up the back four.
Midfield magician Evarine Susan Katongo and Irene Lungu have made a brilliant partnership in midfield and it is expected to continue with Mary Wilombe, Esther ‘Gelo’ Banda, and Maweta Chilenga vying for the same places.
Skipper Grace Chanda is expected to lead the attack with Ochumba Oseke Lubanji, Siomala Mapepa and Misozi Zulu expected to support her. The match will kick off at 22h00CAT at the 12,000-capacity stadium in Rabat, Morocco.
