Africa-Press – Zambia. The government has assured the nation that Times Printpak Zambia Limited has not been put up for sale, despite President Hakainde Hichilema’s suggestion that it could be commercialised.
In his interaction with the media recently, as part of the commemoration of the World Press Freedom Day (WPFD), President Hichilema engaged in a brainstorming session with the media on various topical issues affecting the industry.
One of the issues that was raised to which President Hichilema responded was the future of Times Printpak Zambia Limited. In that regard, President Hichilema advanced the view that one of the solutions to address the challenges faced by the Times Printpak Zambia Limited lay in commercializing the entity.
However, Chief Government spokesperson Chushi Kasanda says this did not mean that Government wants to sell the Times Printpak Zambia Limited. “Government is aware of anxieties by some clients that are doing business with the Times Printpak Zambia Limited that the entity is being sold.
“To the contrary, the discussion during the meeting yesterday, was exploratory in finding solutions to the challenges faced by the Times Printpak Zambia Limited. At no point did the President say Government had decided to sell the Times Printpack Zambia Limited,” she says.
She adds that the Government, therefore, wishes to advise Times Printpak Zambia Limited clients to continue their business interactions with the company as it is not being sold as per their fear.
