Africa-Press – Zambia. The Chipolopolo Boys will face Namibia in the final of the 2022 Hollywoodbets COSAFA Cup following a 4-3 win over Senegal in the semifinals on Friday evening.
Aljosa Asanovic made one change to the team that beat Botswana on Tuesday introducing Patrick Gondwe for Joshua ‘Budo’ Mutale. The Chipolopolo Boys started slow but Kelvin Mubanga Kampamba put them in the lead 17 minutes into the match with a fine finish from outside the box.
The lead did not however last long as Lamine Camara leveled matters five minutes later with an equally exquisite finish. Zambia started pilling pressure and it paid off in the 35th minute as Spencer Sautu scored from close range after the Senegalese defense failed to deal with a Prince Mumba shot.
The match went to the break with Zambia keeping their one-goal lead. In the second stanza, Zambia picked up from where they left off with Kampamba being the main architect.
Ricky Banda added a third thirteen minutes into the second half after Aliou Faty failed to deal with a Kampamba shot and punched it into the Red Arrows hitman’s path who made no mistake, scoring his first goal for Chipolopolo.
Banda then turned provider as he set up Mubanga Kampamba for the third goal from an awkward angle. Senegal then pushed back to try and level matters, first El Hadji N’diaye scoring a beautiful header before Moussa N’diaye could catch Chibwe off his line with a long-range strike to make for a nervy ending.
The Copper Bullets held on to edge the Teranga Lions in a seven-goal thriller completing a double in 48 hours which started with a 4-2 penalty shoutout win by the Copper Queens over the Teranga Lionesses in Casablanca. The win means Zambia will face Namibia in the final of the tournament on Sunday at 19:00hours. Full-Time Zambia 4-3 Senegal.
