Africa-Press – Zambia. Former Mufulira Central Member of Parliament Evans Chibanda has implored former President Edgar Lungu to stop issuing statements that could divide the country but play a role of a unifier.
Speaking to ZNBC News in Kitwe, Dr. Chibanda said people are look up to former President Lungu as a father of the nation and it would be wrong for him to continue issuing emotional statements.
He said the UPND Administration has been given a mandate by the Zambian people and it is just important the former President respects that. Chibanda noted that recent statements by Lungu wanting to continue in active politics are unfortunate and could see him lose his benefits.
He said the indication by government to withdraw his benefits could be as a result of his recent statements of wanting to remain active in politics. Dr. Chibanda has urged the former head of state to instead work closely with President Hakainde Hichilema and help in uniting the country. He said the new dawn administration is on firm ground on transforming the country’s economic development and should not be distracted.
