Africa-Press – Zambia. The Football Association of Zambia, FAZ are expected to receive about K4.2 million following Men and Women soccer team’s recent success. Against all odds, the Copper Queens won bronze at the Morocco 2022 Women’s African Cup of Nations.

Despite missing the trio Rachael Nachula, Barbra Banda and Rachael Kundananji, Bruce Mwape’s side put up an impressive show in Morocco. The Grace Chanda captained side only lost once to Banyana Banyana in the semi finals to a controversial VAR penalty.

The World Cup bound team drew against Cameroon before recording wins over Tunisia, Togo and Senegal. They then sealed $225,000 [K3,690,000] for FAZ after a 1-0 win over 9 times Champions Nigeria in a 3rd/4th playoff.

In addition to the $225,000, FAZ are also in $750,000 [K12.3 milllion] windfall from FIFA for the Copper Queens’ qualification to the World Cup. As the Copper Queens were gaining momentum in North Africa, the Chipolopolo Boys arrived in Durban, South Africa knowing anything other than a win would be an acceptable.

Zambia beat Namibia 1-0 in the final to claim her 6th Cosafa Cup, and this earned FAZ about K495,000 [R500,00]. With that success, FAZ has earned about K4.2 Million.
