Africa-Press – Zambia. Red Arrows, Power Dynamos and ZESCO United recorded huge wins as the battle for title starts to take shape. Green Eagles came from a goal down to beat struggling Zanaco while FC MUZA edged Forest Rangers 1-0 to end their unbeaten run.
The MTN Super League entered week 9 of action on Saturday after with eight matches providing entertainment for fans across the country. Defending Champions, Red Arrows have continued their current good form as they made ease work of Nchanga Rangers beating them 3-1 in an early kick off at the National Heroes Stadium.
Joseph Phiri netted a brace while Conlyde Luchanga scored the other goal as Chisi Mbewe’s men opened a two point lead at the summit. In the second game at the same venue, NAPSA Stars needed a moment of brilliance from Enock Sabumukama to record a narrow 1-0 win over out of form Kabwe Warriors.
Sabamukama scored a beautiful volley to seal maximum points for the Perry Mutapa coached side. In Choma, Green Eagles came from a goal down to beat Zanaco 2-1 to record their second win under the guidance of interim boss Alex Namazaba.
Ernest Mbewe came back to haunt the Bankers as he netted a quick second half brace to guide the Kawale Boys to a well deserved 2-1 win. In Mazabuka, Mandra Muleya scored a 15th minute penalty to lead FC MUZA to a 1-0 win and end Forest Rangers unbeaten run.
In Ndola, ZESCO United came from a goal down to beat Kansanshi Dynamos 3-1 on their return to winning ways. In Kitwe, Power Dynamos were too Powerful for bottom of the table Buildcon FC cruising to a 4-0 win.
Brian Mwila scoreda brace while Kennedy Musonda and Emmanuel Kunda a goal each to send Abayellow to second on the log with 18 points. At Edwin Imboela Stadium, Tenant Chilumba started his life Nkwazi head coach on a winning note.
Goals from Justin Shonga and Christopher Zulu secured Chilumba’s first win, a 2-0 over Chambishi. In Lumwana, Nicholas Mulilo’s first half strike was enough for Masauso Tembo’s Green Buffaloes who edged Lumwana Radiants 1-0. Action moves to Nkana Stadium tomorrow as the struggling giants welcome unbeaten Prison Leopards.
