Africa-Press – Zambia. Zambia Women’s national team striker Rachel Kundananji has continued her fine form in front of goal in the Spanish Primera Division Femenina. Kundananji was on target again on Saturday afternoon leading Madrid CFF to their third straight win.
The Capital side made a trip to San Sebastian to face Real Sociedad at Zubieta in a week eight clash. Kundananji returned to the starting line up while Grace Chanda dropped to the bench.
The former Indeni Roses player was always dangerous but Sociedad were also not a pushover as they gave Paola Ulloa some scares early on. After a scoreless first half Kundananji almost setup Gabi Nunes in the 55th minute but Adriana Nanclares made a brilliant save to keep the match at 0-0.
But two minutes later Kundananji went on a blazing solo run from her half all the way to the oppositions’ 18 yard area before beating Nanclares with a fine finish.
Kundananji then benefitted from poor defending after Sociedad failed to clear a corner firing the ball into the net but the goal was later classified as an own goal after reviewing it but Kundananji did not care as she went celebrating even earning a yellow card for removing her jersey.
Grace Chanda came off the bench to replace Gabi Nunes and played the last 17 minutes. Kundananji was withdrawn in the 82nd minute for Lucia Pardo. The win takes Madrid CFF to second place with 19 points just two shy of log leaders Barcelona.
Kundananji also moved to six goals for the season tied with Brazilian forward Ludmila at the summit of the goalscorers chart. Kundananji and Grace Chanda are part of Bruce Mwape’s squad for the two international friendly matches against Colombia set for November 12th and 15th in Cali.
