Africa-Press – Zambia. Mazabuka Mayor Vincent Lilanda says he is ready to do whatever it takes including dying if it is what is needed for the residents to have peace. He was speaking after his alleged assault by United Party for National Development youth chairperson Bright Hamweenda who was arrested and later released on bond.
Lilanda said it is disheartening that a lot of people in the town have been subjected to assault by Hamweenda. “I think the gentleman is not being fair to the people of Mazabuka.
“I ready to sacrifice my body just for peace in Mazabuka,” he said. Meanwhile, he implored the police to get to the bottom of the matter and see to it that justice is delivered. On the other hand, Hamweenda denied any wrong doing, said it was him who was assaulted by the Mayor’s wife Namwaka.
