Meanwhile, the unemployment rate in the country has remained unsustainably high. At some point, people would stampede causing death and injuries to others as they jostle for jobs.
Early this month, twelve people were injured in a stampede at a recruitment event in Solwezi. This was after hundreds thronged the Zambia Correctional Service Solwezi regional offices for job interviews.
Apparently, the government has a tall order to provide employment, and President Hakainde Hichilema is on record saying his administration is seized with making business environment conducive. He says the government alone cannot be able to employ everyone, hence the need to promote the growth of the private sector.
