Africa-Press – Zambia. Zambia Super League side, Kabwe Warriors have confirmed the appointment of Numba Mumamba as their new head coach. Numba takes over from George Lwandamina who left the magnificent People’s team to rejoin ZESCO United.
He has penned a short term contract with Kabwe Warriors and has been tasked with the mandate of getting the club out of the relegation zone. “Kabwe Warriors Football Club is pleased to present Numba Mumamba as the new First Head Coach with a mandate to get Kabwe Warriors out of the relegation Zone to a respectable position on the MTN Super League table.
Because of his extensive experience and the high level to which he led teams in the Zambia Super League, the Executive Committee of Kabwe Warriors is confident Numba Mumamba is the right person to take over the reins at the club.
Coach Numba’s contract is for an initial period of 6 months with an option to renew, based on satisfactory performance.” Mumamba has been clubless since October 16th when he parted ways with ZESCO United on mutual separation.
Numba joined ZESCO United in 2020 after signing a 3-year contract which saw him guide the club to a ninth league title in his first season. However it’s at Zanaco where Magic is a true club legend as he played an instrumental role as a player in Zanaco’s first four league titles between 2002 and 2006 while the 2009 title found him as an assistant coach.
Numba, who joined Zanaco from Konkola Blades in 1999,led them to their seventh and last title to date in 2016. He steered Zanaco to their debut Barclay’s Cup win in 2017 but it was again under his watch in the 2019/2020 season that they failed to qualify for the competition for the first time ever.
But his achievements with the club goes beyond silverware and was the first Zanaco coach to guide them to the group stage of the CAF Champions League in 2017 and second in the CAF Confederation Cup in the 2019/2020 season.
