Africa-Press – Zambia. The couple whose marriage blessing was rejected last year came back to Church today to seek for blessing. reports James Banda. The marriage blessing was denied in December 2022 by the Roman Catholic Church Priest.
Though the couple still went ahead with their already planed wedding reception, the Church could not compromise demanding that the couple completes the laid down Church doctrine lessons.
Zambian Eye Journalist James Banda who by press time was at St Peter’s Catholic Parish in Garden Township says Father Melvin Zingani had since blessed the marriage of Janet and Biston in a holy matrimony.
Father Zingani thanked the newly wed couple for their perseverance. He said the Couple did not give up despite the church turning them down when they needed the marriage blessing most. He said people in marriage should learn from the new couple to persevere and protect their marriages.
“Endurance and perseverance is key in a marriage. We can learn this from you. Your marriage could not be blessed last month on the day when you held your wedding but you endured that pain until today you got what you wanted,’” he said.
Boston and Janet held a colourful wedding ceremony on 4th December 2022 at Banquet hall in Arakan Baracks. The Catholic church did not bless the marriage because the couple did not meet the Church laid down criteria for a marriage blessing.
The priest however gave the couple a month to meet the blessing conditions which they did today. The people who comprised family members, Friends and members of the Church cheered the couple as the Priest pronounced that starting today, there were now Wife and Husband.
