Africa-Press – Zambia. Former Kabushi lawmaker Bowman Lusambo has sued Attorney General Mulilo Kabesha over the establishment of the Economic and Financial Crimes Court, allegedly aimed at targeting certain individuals.

He says the executive is using judges to recover stolen assets, an act which amounts to directing judicial officers and in contravention of article 122 of the constitution of Zambia.

Mr. Lusambo is also seeking an order and declaration that the setting up of the Economic and Financial Crimes court at subordinate court level is in breach of article 120 (3) (c) of the constitution and is therefore unconstitutional and illegal. Mr. Lusambo is also challenging the transfer of 10 Magistrates out of Lusaka, stating that the decision was political.
