Africa-Press – Zambia. NOEL Nkhoma has dismissed as untrue and baseless, media reports suggesting that he supports views expressed by former Luangeni Member of Parliament, Angela Chifire on Presidential appointments.
On Tuesday, an online publication, the Daily Revelation, carried a story, quoting Ben Phiri as having said that Mr. Nkhoma shares Ms. Chifire’s sentiments that presidential appointments are on a tribal basis.
But reacting to the allegations, Mr. Nkhoma who is also Development Bank of Zambia – DBZ chairman described as baseless and untrue, claims by Mr. Phiri.
He says, “I wish to categorically state that Mr [Ben] Phiri are baseless and untrue. I have never issued any statement on anything to do with presidential appointments as I know it’s the prerogative of the appointing authority. It appears Mr Phiri, who claims to be UPND is frantically looking for relevance but to use me, is extremely absurd.
Mr. Nkhoma also disclosed that efforts to challenge Mr. Phiri to prove his claims have proved futile. “I have since challenged Mr. Phiri to substantiate his allegations but to no avail,” he revealed.
