Africa-Press – Zambia. Kitwe High Court has heard that murder accused Annie Monta stopped her security guards from using her Range Rover to ferry Kitwe businessman Richard Mbulu a.k.a Chile One to the hospital after she allegedly shot him.
On Thursday, Monta made another court appearance in a case where she is accused of murdering her husband Chile One on April 30 last year at their Riverside home in Kitwe after a marital dispute.
Testifying before Kitwe High Court Judge Evaristo Pengele was Musonda Simutengo who worked as a security guard for Monta and her late husband at the time of the incident.
In his testimony, Simutengo said after he and his colleague had been told to take their boss who sustained a gunshot wound to the hospital, he rushed to open the posh Range Rover much to the annoyance of Monta.
He told the court that Monta said the Rover was too valuable a car to be used to ferry the wounded Chile One to the hospital ordering them to use a Toyota Land Cruiser instead.
The court heard that Chile One was then driven to the hospital by his brother’s wife who rushed to the scene moments after her husband Stanslous Mbulu.
In detailing the events leading to the alleged shooting, Simutengo said Chile One was in his usual jovial mood, dancing to some rumba music before going to bed. In the quiet of the night, Simutengo heard a gunshot.
An alert Simutengo rushed to check where the gun could have been fired and it was at this point when he met Stanslous who apparently had also dashed out of the servant’s quarter after hearing the gunshot.
He said the pair saw gun-wielding Monta standing at the Kitchen door where she threatened to shoot Stanslous but that latter managed to escape, rushing to report what happened to police.
