Africa-Press – Zambia. Government is in the process of completing the repealing and replacing of Non – Governmental Organisation NGOs Act of 2009. Community Development and Social Services Minister DOREEN MWAMBA says the act will enhance the operations of NGOs among other issues.
Ms MWAMBA however praised NGOs for contributing towards the development of the country throught their various works. The Minister said this during the commemoration of the First World NGO day in Zambia, held at Mulungushi conference center in Lusaka.
And, Ms MWAMBA said government will continue creating a conducive environment for the active participation of NGOs in development. She has challenged NGOs to undertake financial transactions using financial institutions and other regulated channels in order to enhance their integrity.
