Africa-Press – Zambia. The Government of the Republic of Zambia is concerned that unsuspecting citizens are being swindled out of their money by fraudsters purporting to help them secure education scholarships programmes.
This follows reports that have emerged indicating that fraudsters have taken advantage of some members of the public that are seeking to secure sponsored education scholarship programmes.
The Government wishes to advise members of the public to be cautious and not fall prey to such fraudsters offering to help secure the scholarship programmes as purported scholarships are fake.
In addition, the public is advised to counter-check and verify social media platforms being used by fraudsters before fully committing themselves to making payments for the fake scholarships.
In addition, authentic information about education scholarship programmes can be obtained from the Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board (HELSB), a Statutory Body under the Ministry of Education.
Further, the general public is advised that when available, information on education scholarship programmes, particularly those offered by Cooperating Partners, is always publicised in the print media through the Times of Zambia and the Zambia Daily Mail.
The information is also posted on the HELSB official website www.helsb.gov.zm the official Facebook page, Higher Education Loans and Scholarships Board Zambia, on Twitter: HELSB-Zambia and Instagram:
