Africa-Press – Zambia. SOCIALIST Party president Dr. Fred M’membe says the fully grown homosexuality in the county is the problem of President Hakainde Hichilema and not others.
Dr. M’membe is of the view that the problem about how to deal with the gay and lesbian protestors that marched last Saturday in Lusaka is for President Hichilema and the police.
He says this is not a problem of the Socialist Party but the UPND and President Hichilema who has control over law enforcement agencies. Dr. M’membe says the permit to protest was not given by his party but the UPND and its police.
“The problem of how to deal with LGBTQI marchers in Lusaka is for Mr Hakainde Hichilema and his police officers to deal with. This is not an issue for the Socialist Party Zambia to handle. The Socialist Party has no control of the law enforcement agencies or the administration of criminal justice system. They gave Sistah Sistah Foundation a police permit and should explain their decisions and actions,” said Dr. M’membe.
So, far police in Lusaka have arrested and detained three Sistah Sistah Foundation members and promoters of gay and lesbian rights, among them, a 25 year old police officer of Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe police station.
