Africa-Press – Zambia. Electoral Commission of Zambia Ndola Central Constituency Returning Officer Joseph Kabwesha has declared aspiring candidate from the United Party for National Development Frank Tayali as the duly elected Member of Parliament for Ndola Central Constituency.
Mr Kabwesha declared Mr Tayali as the duly elected MP for Ndola Central this morning, after he polled 22, 907 votes against his closest rival Brenda Mwamba of the Patriotic Front who polled 18, 826 votes.
Mr Kabwesha announced that a total of 44, 645 votes were cast in the constituency, with a record of 682 rejected ballots. Meanwhile, Mr Tayali has thanked the electorates for the confidence they have in him and has since pledged to better the lives of the people in the area.
“Politics is not a career but a service to the people this is a race that can only accommodate one person at a time. I want to encourage my closest rival that women have a special place in our country and she should stay focused.” He said.
He urged everyone in the constituency to make themselves available and present ideas to his office, in order to help better their lives. And United Party for National Development (UPND) has emerged victorious in both Parliamentary and Mayoral seats in Lufubu Constituency of Central Province.
United Party for National Development (UPND)’s candidate Wesley Kolala got 2640 followed by Patriotic Front (PF) candidate Tabitso Tshili Mizinga with 1,892, while Gift Chiyalika an independent candidate got 1480 and the Socialist Party’s Jonathan Katoka got 143 making the Democratic Party’s Oswald Chulu to have 64.
Lufubu Constituency District Electoral Officer Clement Chisanga declared UPND’s Wesley Kolala as duly elected Member of Parliament for Lufubu Constituency at exactly 20:30 hours.
Mr Chisanga also announced that the total number of votes cast was 6,615 while 294 votes were rejected ballots and 11,555 were registered voters for Lufubu constituency.
Mr Chisanga further declared UPND’s Bodden Kalebuka who got 2,744 as duly elected council chairperson in a race that was contested by the PF’s Horeb Kafuwa who got 2,139 while Lewis Chitaila an independent got 1,304 votes.
