Africa-Press – Zambia. Kamwala Ward Councillor Hon. Mainda Simataa has delivered two water storage tanks with a combined capacity of 20,000 liters for the benefit of Maxwell Sibongo police post and the surrounding community of Kamwala South that’s been badly hit with water shortages.
The civic leader says delivery of the storage tanks marks the start of phase 1 of an ongoing effort to provide water relief measures to a population of over 2000 households that have been badly hit with water shortages resulting from dry boreholes and erratic power supply affecting the pumping capabilities for other existing boreholes.
Councillor Simataa added that phase 2 will involve connecting the tanks to water supply sources, preferably commercial boreholes, so as to provide the community with free and clean water, and curb the exploitative tendencies of private borehole owners who’re cashing in on the water crisis.
