Africa-Press – Zambia. United Party for National Development (UPND) Alliance Media Director Thabo kawana has refuted the story suggesting that the New Dawn Administration has renewed the employment contract for ZRA Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda.
A story has gone viral on various social media platforms suggesting that the New Dawn Administration has renewed the employment contract for the ZRA Commissioner General Kingsley Chanda.
But in a post on Dynamic Analysis Zambia (DAZ) WhatsApp Group, Mr. Kawana explained that Dr. CHANDA’s contract was renewed by the Patriotic Front (PF) led Administration in July this year.
Meanwhile, Mr. Kawana has expressed worry that leaving such rumors going viral unattended can be harmful to individuals targeted by the stories and put such individuals in harm’s way with an agitated group of people especially political party cadres.
Below is his post; Information going round that the New Dawn Administration has renewed the employment contract for the ZRA Commissioner General is false. His contract was renewed by PF Administration in July and not by us, it’s only that our information machinery is not working or moving well.
By now, a statement should have been issued by either the Chief Government Spokesperson or the PRO at Ministry of Finance. Even the ZRA Spokesperson should have been compelled to issue a statement correcting the same.

Can you imagine the Commissioner General himself or Minister Mutati who is been falsely accused of having facilitated the renewal of contract, bumping into a group of our youth say at Northmead?
Just the insults and possible violence they may face makes one shudder to imagine. Let’s be quick to dispel misinformation. It’s dangerous to let it run ahead of us.
