Africa-Press<\/a> – Zambia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>We will remember KK as a president who never stole from his people \u2013 EFF A SOUTH African opposition party says it will remember Dr Kenneth Kaunda as a former president who never stole from his people and government.<\/p>\n

Dr Kaunda died yesterday aged 97 having endeared himself to many across the world as a key figure in Africa\u2019s liberation struggle in the 1950s. He became Zambia\u2019s first president in 1964 and left power after losing an election in 1991.<\/p>\n

Dr Kaunda\u2019s death was announced by secretary to the cabinet Dr Simon Miti yesterday. In a statement, the Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) of South Africa led by firebrand Julius Malema said it was saddened by Dr Kaunda\u2019s passing.<\/p>\n

The EFF stated that it will remember Dr Kenneth Kaunda as a former head of state who had never forsaken his nation nor stole from his government. \u201cHe preached peace and treated with disdain politicians who thrived on tribalism,\u201d stated the EFF.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe white handkerchief has retired, a great poet, author and singer sleeps to wake up no more\u201d.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe will be remembered as the only leader of a sovereign state in the world who granted headquarters to all liberation movements of colonized African States,\u201d the EFF pointed out.<\/p>\n

\u201cHe hosted MPLA of Angola, FRELIMO of Mozambique, SWAPO of Namibia, ZAPU of Zimbabwe and ANC of South Africa at great. Cost of financial threats from the Western countries and military attacks by Smith of Rhodesia and Botha of South Africa. He treated all liberation movements with equality and great respect. In the midst of his suffering people and government, he never abandoned people of Africa under the yoke of colonialism,\u201d noted the EFF.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
