Africa-Press<\/a> – Zambia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>PRESIDENT Edgar Lungu says the passing away of Dr Kenneth Kaunda should ignite in all Zambians the resolve to hold firmly and embrace the \u201cone zambia one nation\u201d slogan. He said the slogan should be a basis upon which the country should forge ahead as a nation.<\/p>\n

Speaking when he visited the residence of late and first Republican President Dr Kenneth Kaunda, President Lungu said the untimely passing away of Dr Kaunda is a great loss not only to his family, but to the entire nation, the Southern African Region, the African Continent and the world at large.<\/p>\n

\u201cA dark day has befallen our nation!yesterday, we learnt of the passing of our beloved founding father, our first president, His Excellency Dr. Kenneth David Kaunda.<\/p>\n

On behalf of the government and the people of our great country, please accept my deepest and heartfelt condolences,\u201d he said He said Dr Kaunda epitomised the very existence of Zambia as such no-one can speak about Zambia without recognising the foundational role that he played.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are all well aware that for our founding father, it was not enough for his country, zambia, to be liberated when the region and the african continent, remained bonded in the shackles of colonialism and apartheid. He soldiered on to seek freedom for humanity \u201d he said.<\/p>\n

President Lungu said Dr Kaunda exemplary statesmanship, as steadfast and unwavering as he was renowned, gained him international stature as he projected his noble ideals on the international stage, while seeking the best for mankind.<\/p>\n

\u201cLet us keep KK alive in our hearts and our deeds. Let the life led by KK shape our destiny and remain indelible in our identity as a people,\u201d Mr Lungu said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
