Africa-Press<\/a> – Zambia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation has today agreed to prescribe the amount of airtime to be allocated to contesting political parties or candidate\u2019s on all its television and radio platforms for purposes of ensuring fair coverage in the news content in the course of the campaign period.<\/p>\n

According to a consent judgement entered in the High Court, the public broadcaster has agreed to implement the provisions of Section 8 (2) of the Electoral Code of Conduct contained in the schedule promulgated under section 110 of the Electoral Process Act No. 35 of 2016.<\/p>\n

This is in the matter in which United Party for National Development Secretary General Batuke Imenda had taken legal action against the Electoral Commission of Zambia and the Attorney General. Mr Imenda had complained against Zambia National Broadcasting Corporation\u2019s unfair and unbalanced news coverage against the UPND.
