Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>Copper Queens midfielder Maweta Glory Chilenga has revealed that the team has been working on sharpening their attack ahead of the start of the 2022 Morocco Women\u2019s Africa Women\u2019s Cup of Nations.<\/p>\n

Zambia will take on Cameroon in their opening game of the tournament and Maweta is confident the team knows enough about the Lionesses and very much prepared for the match.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been focusing on quick attacks and scoring, We realized that in the game against Morocco we had few chances so we are really working on that,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s going to be hard but we are well prepared. We know how they are since we played them in the Olympics qualifiers, and we are very much prepared for them.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201d We have to win against Togo and Tunisia,\u201d she added. The former Copper Princesses midfield magician also echoed the coaches sentiments that the team is targeting a maiden appearance at the World Cup.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur goal is to go to the World Cup. This tournament is a roadmap to the World Cup in Australia next year,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

Maweta Continued: First it is going to make our people back home to see the team at the World Cup for the first time and it will be a good platform for us to market ourselves as players.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Competition is high, both new and old players are working hard to show the coach that they are ready,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The lanky youngster is confident of making it into the coach\u2019s starting line up despite the huge competition in the team. Maweta also revealed what has helped her to graduate from the junior ranks into the senior national team.<\/p>\n

She was also quick to ask the fans to be patient with the team so that they can deliver. \u201cI am looking forward to score as many goals as I can when I get a chance and marketing myself.<\/p>\n

\u201cDetermination and hard work has helped me to get here. I read books to learn and I also ask and learn from the experienced players,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n

\u201d I will make sure, I work hard and contribute as a player to help the team qualify for the World Cup.<\/p>\n

\u201cWith the coming friendly games, we will make sure we score as many goals as we can put to practice what we have been working on in training.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201d I urge them to support us and be patient with us, we will deliver,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n

The Copper Queens start their campaign against Cameroon at the Mohammed V stadium on July 3 before facing North Africans Tunisia three days later. They will wrap up their Group B engagement with a tie against debutants Togo on 9 July.<\/p>\n

The top four finishers in Morocco will qualify directly for the World Cup to be jointly hosted by Australia and New Zealand in 2023, while two additional teams will progress to the intercontinental play-offs.<\/p>\n
