Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>The nation would only start witnessing a sharp decline in national unity which our previous leaders had endeavoured to maintain when Michael Sata\u2019s PF ascended to power. He would toss caution and restraint out of the window as he set forth on a destructive, and shameless path of rewarding his kith and kin with government, making the so-called family tree look like child\u2019s play!<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t balance tribes, I balance brains!\u201d he would retort when challenged on his tribalism.<\/p>\n

Apart from the son of Scottish immigrants, Guy Scot, who saw himself appointed as Vice president for \u201ccolouring purposes\u201d as late veteran politician, Nakatindi Wina, would put it, every other appointee reeked of the strong stench of crass tribalism! Finance \u2013 Alexander Chikwanda (Northern); Defence \u2013 Godfrey Mwamba (Northern); Home Affairs \u2013 Edgar Lungu (Eastern); Mines & energy \u2013 Christopher Yaluma (Northern); Local Government & Housing \u2013 Nkandu Luo (Northern); Works, Transport, Supply & Communications \u2013 Yamfwa Mukanga (Northern); Foreign \u2013 Given Lubinda (Western); Health \u2013 Joseph Kasonde (Northern); Community Services, Mother & Child \u2013 Joseph Katema (Northern); Commerce & industry \u2013 Bob Sichinga (Northern); Information \u2013 Kennedy Sakeni (Luapula);Sport, Youth & Child Development \u2013 Chishimba Kambwili (Northern); Traditional & Chiefs Affairs \u2013 Emerrine Kabanshi (Northern); Secretary to the cabinet \u2013 Evans Chibiliti (Northern).<\/p>\n

We keep reminding ourselves of the \u201cOne Zambia, One Nation\u201d motto but how could someone honestly deliberately omit Southern and N\/western provinces in his appointments, especially when the two regions contribute greatly to the national treasury in terms of tourism and mining?<\/p>\n

As they say, history has a habit of repeating itself\u2026\u2026the cold hand of death would strike yet again claiming the visibly ailing president. And just when keen observers of our politics hoped the new leader, Edgar Lungu, would somehow change the narrative and strive to enhance national unity; boom\u2026\u2026he would apply fertilizer to the \u201cFamily Forest,\u201d making it even more flourishing! Of course, Inonge Wina, a descendant of Barotseland, had to be somehow rewarded with the second top most job for helping hand him the presidency on a silver plate! The Northern regions alone boasted of a Lion\u2019s share of 18 slots, with 5 going to kumawa, while the rest of the regions jostled for the remaining 7 paltry portfolios!<\/p>\n

The positions were distributed as follows: Defence \u2013 Davies Chama (Northern); Finance \u2013 Bwalya Ng\u2019andu (Northern); Home Affairs \u2013 Steven Kampyongo (Northern); National Development Planning \u2013 Alexander Chiteme (Copperbelt); Information \u2013 Dora Siliya (Eastern); Commerce \u2013 Christopher Yaluma (Northern); Health \u2013 Chitalu Chilufya (Northern); Mines & Minerals Development \u2013 Richard Musukwa (Eastern); Higher Education \u2013 Brian Mushimba (Northern); General Education \u2013 Dennis Wachinga (Northern) Community Development \u2013 Mulenga Kampamba (Northern); Tradition & Chiefs Affairs \u2013 Lawrance Sichalwe (Northern) Labour \u2013 Joyce Simukoko (Northern); Works & Supply \u2013 Sylvia Chalikosa (Northern); Housing & Infrastructure Development \u2013 Vincent Mwale (Eastern); Local Government \u2013 Charles Banda (Eastern); Youth & Sports \u2013 Emmanuel Mulenga (Northern) Religious Affairs \u2013 Godfridah Sumaili (Northern); Water Development \u2013 Raphael Nakachinda (Southern); Agriculture \u2013 Micheal Katambo (Copperbelt); Foreign Affairs \u2013 Joe Malanji (N\/western); Presidential Affairs \u2013 Freedom Sikazwe (Northern); Energy Minister \u2013 Mathew Nkhuwa (Eastern); Livestock & Fisheries \u2013 Nkandu Luo (Northern); Justice \u2013 Given Lubinda (Western); Transport & Communication \u2013 Mutotwe Kafwaya (Northern) ; Tourism \u2013 Ronald Chitotela (Northern); Health \u2013 Jonas Chanda (Northern); Gender \u2013 Elizabeth Phiri (Eastern); Lands \u2013 Jean Kapata (N\/western); Office of the Vice president \u2013 Olipa Mwansa (Northern).<\/p>\n

Doesn\u2019t this amount to a national scandal? Anyway, by now we are all aware that President Hakainde was denied MPs in certain provinces.
