Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>ITALIAN President Sergio Mattarella, is expected in the country today on an official visit from July 6-8. President Hakainde Hichilema and President Mattarella are expected to hold bilateral talks which will focus on pertinent matters of mutual interest at bilateral, regional and international levels.<\/p>\n

During his visit, President Mattarella is scheduled to address the National Assembly tomorrow, Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Stanley Kakubo confirmed in a statement yesterday.<\/p>\n

Mr Kakubo said Zambia and Italy share excellent bilateral relations and cooperation premised on shared values and mutual respect. Mr Kakubo stated that the two countries also cooperate at international level through common membership to the United Nations, among other institutions.<\/p>\n

He added that government was committed in its pursuit of robust economic diplomacy to safeguard the country\u2019s interests on the international arena. \u201cThe high level engagements with strategic partners underscore the commitment of the government to achieve its goal of economic transformation underpinned by peace and security, therefore this landmark visit by President Mattarella will consolidate the strong ties between Zambia and Italy for the mutual benefit of the people in the two countries,\u201d said Mr Kakubo.<\/p>\n
