Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>Technology and Science Minister Felix Mutati has counseled newly wed couples to avoind making comparisons with their neighbors but live within their means because envy destroys marriages.<\/p>\n

Mr Mutati said couples that will be envious will only destroy their marriage hence the need to understand that each one of them has different means, capabilities and capacities therefore the need to live within their means.<\/p>\n

And Mr Mutati said newly wed couples should realize that marriage is not a destination but a way of life that brings two people of different backgrounds together for a common cause, as such, both should be a gift to each other.<\/p>\n

Mr Mutati was speaking last evening as Guest of Honor at a wedding reception of Dr Racheal Mkalipi, the daughter to Movement for Democratic Change MDC Chairperson for Mobilization Jane Mkalipi, who tied the knot with Dr Ignatius Kwame Adjei Bafou.<\/p>\n

And Mr Mutati advised the newly wed couple that there is need for transparency on finances as difficulties and challenges in marriages are mostly around finances.<\/p>\n

He said in order to avoid conflict created by finances, the wife must always be the one that maintains the bank account, that way, there will be no problems and peace will prevail.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn my case, I don\u2019t have access to my bank account. When I need money, I\u2019ve got to say, Dearest Dr Grace Mutati, I need some money. That way you create transparency in the house and whatever you earn, let your wife maintain the money\u201d Mr Mutati said.<\/p>\n

He also said couples need to be accountable to each other in order to build trust by being where someone says they are because when one finds out otherwise, it will be the beginning of erosion of trust.<\/p>\n

Mr Mutati who was accompanied by his wife Dr Grace Mutati, further advised couples that to love each will provide them strength but to be in love with each other will give them courage, which is what will make a great couple.<\/p>\n

Also in attendance at the wedding reception was the groom\u2019s parents Mr Paul and Mrs Elizabeth Adjei Bafou from Ghana, The Ghanian High Commissioner to Zambia Khadija Iddrisu, former Deputy Army Commander Maj Gen. Banda and his wife former Minister Mrs Rose Banda, former Zambia\u2019s Ambasador to China Mrs Joyce Musenge and her Husband Capt Charles Musenge, renowned lawyer and politician Hon Chifumu Banda State Counsel who is the uncle to the bride.<\/p>\n
