Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>Zambia\u2019s participation in global aviation meetings will help accelerate the country\u2019s aspiration of becoming a regional transport and logistics hub, Minister of Transport and Logistics Permanent Secretary Fredrick Mwalusaka has said.<\/p>\n

Mwalusaka said that meetings such as the forthcoming 41st session of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) will help the country achieve that.<\/p>\n

He said it is important that the country is represented during such high level meetings to keep abreast with global trends within the aviation industry which is a highly regulated sector.<\/p>\n

Mwalusaka speaking when he paid a courtesy call on Zambia\u2019 Acting High Commissioner to South Africa Inonge Mwenya at the Chancery in Pretoria said Zambia is working towards becoming a transport and logistics hub in the region.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are scheduled to participate in the ICAO Assembly in Canada, with representation from various sections within the industry. As you know, ICAO is very much involved in the regulation of the aviation sector.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is important that we attend this meeting because aviation is one of the sectors which is highly regulated and ICAO plays a pivotal role in that regard and so, it is important that we go and represent Zambia,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

And Mwenya reiterated the Mission\u2019s commitment to continue playing its part in ensuring the enhancement of ties between Zambia and South Africa in various areas including aviation.<\/p>\n

The ICAO Assembly is the International Civil Aviation Organisation\u2019s sovereign body which will this be held on September 27th to October 7th in Montr\u00e9al, Canada at which Zambia will be represented. The Assembly meets at least once every three years and is convened by ICAO\u2019s governing body, the Council with a representation of 193 Member States.<\/p>\n
