Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>Zambia Women\u2019s National Team head coach Bruce Mwape was left unimpressed despite the team collecting maximum points in their opening match of the 2022 COSAFA Women\u2019s Championship.<\/p>\n

Mwape felt his team lost possession too easily and was not as coordinated as he would have liked. The gaffer has now set his sights on improving the coordination between the midfield and the strikeforce as well as increasing the time his team spends in possession of the ball.<\/p>\n

\u201cWell I think the result was good but the performance of the team was not all that good. For the first five minutes, we started well but later on other players started panicking which was not supposed to be the case because when we prepared for this tournament we insisted on ball possession,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cGoing forward we will try to improve on ball possession and the coordination between the midfield and the strike force that is our main concern now.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we can possess the ball for a long time we can create a lot of chances. Today ( Thursday ) we created very few goal-scoring opportunities and it\u2019s good that the chances that came our way we were able to utilize them. The defense was okay, we can not complain because even Namibia failed to create chances in our area,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Skipper Barbra Banda scored twice as Zambia claimed a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Namibia in their 2022 COSAFA Women\u2019s Championship Group B opener at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Thursday.<\/p>\n

Zambia will return to the pitch on Sunday when they take on Lesotho who recorded a 3-0 win over Eswatini in their opening match thanks to a hat-trick by captain Boitumelo Rabale.<\/p>\n
