Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>ABSA Cup defending Champions, NAPSA Stars sit in 12th place with only four games to go. Striker Augustine Mulenga spoke to the club\u2019s media team explaining the current form of the club as the race to seal ABSA Cup slots gets by every week.<\/p>\n

Mulenga believes the team is playing well despite losing their last three games and only collecting a point in their last four league matches. The former Orlando Pirates man feels the team needs to work on their defensive errors and be more clinical in front of goal.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have been doing well, we are just not converting our chances. Our opponents on the other hand capitalize on our mistakes, so if we can work on our mistakes and then things will be okay,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe just have to improve on defending so that even if we score one goal we can win the games. If you look at our defense it is hard to score against us but in the last three games we have been making mistakes and opponents have capitalized so we just have to improve.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think as strikers when we are in the box we lack patience and composure when we have the ball. We are rushing and making decisions in a hurry , which is a mistake. We need to be sure and take those chances. We are not scoring because of lack of composure and patience. We will continue working hard in training so that we can improve,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

The former Zanaco man wants the Pensioners to fight for the remaining 12 points to book a place in the ABSA Cup. \u201cYes, I Am worried because when we are not doing well people will be talking but the onus is on us players to change the situation. We have twelve points to fight for so if we can get at least 10 or 9 we can find ourselves in the ABSA Cup slots,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cIf we can just minimize our mistakes in defense and take our chances we will be good and find ourselves maybe in top 6 or top 5 which will be okay for us but it won\u2019t be easy, we just have to work hard.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cI think the Zambian League is something I know very well, I just have to adjust , it\u2019s similar to the PSL with just a few different things. I have already adapted, I just need to be focused and understand my teammates so that we can be on the same wavelength. Some are yet to learn my movements and me theirs but as we train we learn about one another,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

Mulenga also explained the difference between the PSL and the MTN Super League as he went on to call on fans to keep supporting the team. \u201cThe only difference here is that some pitches here don\u2019t allow the passing game and make it difficult for everyone, but for the league there is no real difference,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

\u201cTo the fans, they just have to continue believing in us, this is just a phase and in football it happens. We need the fans. Without them it will be difficult. Their support will make us push more and make it easier for us.\u201d<\/p>\n
