Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>LABOUR and Social Security Minister Brenda Tambatamba says the transformative agenda that the new dawn administration has embarked on inter alia makes the creation of decent jobs in the economy a top priority. <\/b><\/p>\n

Ms Tambatamba says government has placed a high premium on the creation of decent jobs in the economy citing the recent recruitment of 45, 772 public service workers in a single year.<\/p>\n

She said that the New Dawn Administration is committed to achieving the decent work agenda by the prioritisation of macroeconomic policies that promote job creation and support demand and investment.<\/p>\n

Ms Tambatamba added that the decent work agenda by the government will also be achieved by the adoption of policies to support business to increase credit flows and promote entrepreneurship, while encouraging the transition from the informal to the formal economy.<\/p>\n

She said this in a speech by Ministry of Labour and Social Security Acting Permanent Secretary Zachariah Luhanga at the Basic Education Teachers\u2019 Union of Zambia (BETUZ) 5TH Quadrennial Conference in Livingstone last weekend. Meanwhile, BETUZ has demanded that NAPSA board be directed to explain what the repealed Act means to members who are contributing to the Authority.<\/p>\n

BETUZ president Binston Tembo said, as it stands, very limited information has been given to the workers who belonged to the defunct PSPF on the difference in terms of lump sum benefits for one who retires at 55 years and one who goes at 60 years. He said that this is because of the ongoing debate among workers over the difference in lump sum benefits.<\/p>\n
