Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Cotton Board of Zambia has announced the launch of an essay writing competition in an effort to encourage young people develop an interest in agriculture as a career.<\/p>\n

The competition under the theme \u201ccotton for sustainable development and environmental sustainability\u201d will run for a period of 30 days. Cotton Board of Zambia Chief Executive officer Sunduzwayo Banda has called on interested Zambians between 18 and 24 years to enter the competition.<\/p>\n

\u201cParticipants are urged to submit a research paper on the importance of cotton to the Zambian economy\u201d, Banda said.<\/p>\n

The competition will see the winner walk away with a high tech iPad, first runners up will walk away with a latest smart phone and third position will have an opportunity for internship at the cotton board secretariat. During the 30 days period, Cotton Board of Zambia will also run a series of events showcasing the importance of cotton to the Zambian economy.<\/p>\n

The Cotton Board Act No. 21 of 2005 empowers the Board to regulate the Cotton Industry as it relates to the production and ginning of seed Cotton: to control the production and marketing of cotton and to provide with or incidental to the foregoing.<\/p>\n
