Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Appeals Committee has upheld the sanctions handed to Chambishi by the Disciplinary Committee following the abandonment of their MTN Super League Week 8 match due to crowd trouble.<\/p>\n

The Copperbelt based outfit were handed a K50,000 fine and the result annulled with the Airmen rewarded a 3-0 scoreline and in addition Chambishi was also given a five-match ban of spectators at Chambishi stadium.<\/p>\n

According to a statement by FAZ Communications manager Sydney Mungala availed to the ZamFoot Crew, Chambishi\u2019s appeal was squashed as they did not argue the facts of the matter by merely pleaded for leniency.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe FAZ Appeals Committee has upheld all the sanctions handed to Chambishi Football Club by the Disciplinary Committee following the abandonment of their MTN Super League Week 8 match due to crowd trouble.\u201d<\/p>\n

The FAZ Disciplinary Committee handed Chambishi FC a K50, 000 fine and 5-match ban for their home stadium for the crowd trouble that characterized their 3-2 home loss to Red Arrows.<\/p>\n

Chambishi Football Club appealed the decision on the pretext that it was too harsh as they were first offenders. However, the Appeals Committee upheld the Disciplinary Committee\u2019s decision on account that the appellant did not dispute the facts upon which they were found liable.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the Appeals Committee noted that the plea for leniency on the number of home matches to be played behind closed doors failed as there was a growing number of crowd trouble incidences that needed to be nipped in the bud.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe committee considered the Appellant\u2019s plea for lenience in view of the possible financial consequences on the Appellant. However, considering the need to deter spectator misconduct as being primary and important for the good of the game, the Committee upheld the Disciplinary Committee\u2019s fine of K50, 000,\u201d reads part of the verdict.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe committee upheld the five-match sanction meted out by the Disciplinary Committee especially in view of the fact that this is the bare minimum of matches that can be sanctioned on an erring club in the FAZ disciplinary code. The committee therefore cannot reduce the number of games on appeal.\u201d<\/p>\n

The Appeals Committee also advised clubs that lodged appeals to be more precise and aligned to the provisions of the disciplinary code. FAZ General Secretary Adrian Kashala says FAZ was still concerned that despite the punitive measures being implemented by the judicial bodies some clubs were still guilty of misconduct.<\/p>\n
