Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>I CANNOT understand Miles Sampa but whoever he is consulting, talking to, he has gone to wrong people, says PF chairman Davis Chama. In an interview, Chama said of late he did not understand what was going on in the mind of Matero PF member of parliamnet who is also seeking to be the party\u2019s president.<\/p>\n

This follows Sampa\u2019s decision to take the party to the Registrar of Societies, where he has given a seven-day ultimatum to compel the PF to hold a convention.<\/p>\n

\u201cEven the Registrar of Societies in Zambia knows we went for a general conference two years ago and our next conference is five years from last of last year. So we have been very compliant as far as our constitution is concerned. So we have nothing to worry about,\u201d he said. \u201cYou know there is so much suspicion and lack of trust of each<\/p>\n

other. That is what is compelling these undertakings by some of our colleagues.\u201d Chama said as far as he was concerned, leaders in the PF were men of integrity who could be trusted.<\/p>\n

\u201cThose who left they came back, they were forgiven. They said \u2018now we have repented, we have come back. We are sorry for what we did from what we passed through\u2019. But people are regretting now, they are saying<\/p>\n

\u2018what is this?\u2019 I remember people like honourable [Given] Lubinda who supported<\/p>\n

him. I mean I have to disclose some of these things. He can even go to an extent of saying he signed bond for him and he is withdrawing surety, how do you go to such extent for goodness sake?\u201d Chama wondered. \u201cI, myself, was disciplined by the party when I was provincial party chairman even though I personally felt I did not do anything wrong. But I said I have to obey the constitution and the powers of our leaders.\u201d He said no member must feel that they cannot be touched or disciplined.<\/p>\n

\u201cThen what kind of organisation are we going to run? Sampa has just been suspended and not expelled, so what is the problem? I am failing to understand my brother. I feel very sad that a person I share that closeness cannot even have the courtesy to say \u2018I have a situation\u2019 so that we discuss as a family before we go to outsiders,\u201d Chama said. \u201cI cannot understand Miles Sampa but whoever he is<\/p>\n

consulting, whoever he is talking to, he has gone to wrong people. That is my view. Let him tone down, sober up. From where I stand we are not sidelining anybody but miles Sampa will sideline himself and expose himself and he will be judged by the members of the party.\u201d<\/p>\n

He warned Sampa that history would repeat itself. Chama said although it was mandatory for any society and political parties to deposit their constitutions with the registrar, it was not the duty of the Registrar of Societies to run political parties.<\/p>\n

\u201cI don\u2019t know what is going on in the head of my brother for him to take the route that he has taken. He is a senior member of the party. He is a member of the central committee. He is our MP and within the party he has held several positions. So whatever is<\/p>\n

compelling him to do what he is doing is beyond anyone\u2019s understanding. It is very shocking but you know sometimes, history repeats itself and we have been on this route before,\u201d said Chama<\/p>\n
