Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>President Hichilema has reiterated Zambia\u2019s stance against gay and lesbian activities, assuring the nation that his government will continue to uphold the law forbidding such \u201cunnatural acts.\u201d Speaking to over 400 clergy members in Chingola, the president emphasized that Zambia will remain a Christian Nation as declared by his predecessor, President Fredrick Chiluba, and that this is integral to the country\u2019s identity.<\/p>\n

The president urged Zambians not to believe falsehoods that his government supports LGBTQI activities and labeled such claims as \u201cmessages from detractors who are misleading Zambians aimed at derailing the country\u2019s progress.\u201d He affirmed that the constitution is clear on gay and lesbian activities, and he intends to uphold the provisions of the law and the normal standards and norms of Zambians who have rejected LGBTQI activities.<\/p>\n

The meeting was attended by Joseph Kazhila, the General Overseer of Life Gospel Ministries International, who pledged the church\u2019s support for the president\u2019s stance against LGBTQI activities, hate speech, tribalism, and other vices.
