Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres warned on Friday that the global family is \u201cdysfunctional\u201d and called for \u201cdeep, structural\u201d reform ahead of this weekend\u2019s G-20 summit in India.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur world is in a difficult moment of transition. The future is multipolar, but our multilateral institutions reflect a bygone age,\u201d he told reporters.<\/p>\n

He said that the global financial architecture is \u201coutdated, dysfunctional, and unfair,\u201d urging nations to take bold steps to make those global institutions \u201ctruly universal\u201d and representative of today\u2019s realities and more responsive to the needs of developing economies.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have no time to lose,\u201d he warned. \u201cI have come to the G-20 with a simple but urgent appeal: We cannot go on like this. We must come together and act together for the common good.\u201d<\/p>\n

Guterres also called for $500 billion per year in investments for the UN Sustainable Development Goals, a universal agenda to end poverty in all its forms by 2030.<\/p>\n
