Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>THE Energy Regulation Board (ERB) has announced that the measures introduced to address Zambia\u2019s fuel supply challenges are beginning to show results, with normal supply expected to be fully restored within the next week.<\/p>\n

According to the ERB, as of yesterday, October 11, the country had a total of 37 million liters of diesel and 8.2 million liters of petrol stocked in depots and retail outlets across the nation.<\/p>\n

This stockpile is considered sufficient to meet the country\u2019s daily consumption, which averages 3.8 million liters of diesel and 1.6 million liters of petrol.<\/p>\n

In a statement issued by ERB\u2019s public relations manager Namukolo Kasumpa, the board assured the public that fuel will continue to flow into the country through both the pipeline and road transport.<\/p>\n

\u201cOut of 614 fuel stations countrywide, as at today 207 fuel stations were monitored and of these, 76 percent were selling all products, only 3.4 percent were out of stock,\u201d Kasumpa said.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe ERB would like to reiterate its advice to the public to avoid panic buying as the Board is committed to maintaining transparency and oversight, monitoring fuel stocks countrywide to guarantee a steady supply.\u201d<\/p>\n

The ERB emphasized that efforts are ongoing, in collaboration with relevant government ministries and departments, to fully normalise distribution and ensure consistent, reliable fuel availability nationwide.<\/p>\n

\u201cAs fuel supply stability measures take effect, we urge the public to refrain from engaging in illegal fuel vending, particularly in areas where the supply has not yet been fully restored.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIllegal fuel vending is not only a criminal offense but poses significant risks to public safety, including fire hazards, environmental pollution and financial losses with possible engine damage due to substandard contaminated products,\u201d reiterated the board.<\/p>\n

ERB urged petroleum consumers to purchase from licensed service providers as these are regularly monitored by the board for safety and fuel quality compliance.<\/p>\n

\u201cReport any suspicious fuel vending activities to the ERB or Law enforcement agencies,\u201d added Kasumpa.<\/p>\n
