Africa-Press – Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>The Premier League has explained the decision to overturn a penalty decision in favour of Manchester United, as they battled to a 3-2 win over Burnley on Saturday.<\/p>\n

It was the Red Devils\u2019 first victory this season, but at a point it appeared they would only get one point from the match.<\/p>\n

Ruben Amorim\u2019s men took the lead through a Josh Cullen own goal, before Lyle Foster made it 1-1 with a finish from close range.<\/p>\n

Bryan Mbeumo restored United\u2019s lead, but Burnley equalized again through Jadon Anthony.<\/p>\n

In added time, Amad Diallo\u2019s shirt was dragged in the area and although on the initial decision was play on, referee Sam Barrott was advised to review the incident on the pitchside monitor.<\/p>\n

A penalty was awarded and Bruno Fernandes scored the winner at Old Trafford.<\/p>\n

In a statement on X, the Premier League Match Centre said: \u201cAfter VAR review, the referee overturned the original decision of no penalty to Manchester United.<\/p>\n

\u201cReferee announcement: \u2018After review, Burnley eleven has a sustained pulling action on Manchester United sixteen, which results in a penalty kick. My final decision is yellow card and penalty\u2019.\u201d<\/p>\n
