Africa-Press<\/a> – Zambia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic of Zambia has powers to create any position at any time for the smooth operation of his office or indeed the executive branch of government. And so, he is within his powers to restructure the positions within State House and create even more positions. So nothing peculiar with the creation of the position of Media Director at State House.<\/p>\n

In most jurisdictions where such position exist, it is called Director of Communication \u2013 a very top job \u2013 that coordinates internal and external communication within State House, government and the public. So it is beyond just media relations (press statements and briefing) but communication at large. White House has such position and so is the Kenyan State House. This means that all media and communication experts at State House \u2013 including Presidential Spokesman \u2013 fall under that person. He is a big boss! If they have borrowed that concept.<\/p>\n

Congratulations are in order Clayson Hamasaka for the appointment to that loft position. He is not just a longtime friend of mine but also my former lecturer at Evelyn Hone College when I studied Journalism and Public Relations (he had just joined the academic staff as a youngster from UNZA). Some of his former students \u2013 including myself -went ahead of him and headed the Press and Public Relations Unit at State House.
