{"id":81675,"date":"2026-03-20T22:30:06","date_gmt":"2026-03-20T22:30:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zambia\/all-news\/three-pf-mps-defect-to-upnd-in-muchinga"},"modified":"2026-03-21T12:18:24","modified_gmt":"2026-03-21T12:18:24","slug":"three-pf-mps-defect-to-upnd-in-muchinga","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/zambia\/all-news\/three-pf-mps-defect-to-upnd-in-muchinga","title":{"rendered":"Three PF MPs Defect to UPND in Muchinga"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Zambia. <\/strong><\/span>Three Patriotic Front (PF) Members of Parliament in Muchinga Province have joined the United Party for National Development (UPND).<\/p>\n<p>The MPs are Sunday Chanda of Kanchibiya Constituency,Majory Nakaponda of Isoka Constituency and Robert Chabinga of Mafinga Constituency.<\/p>\n<p>Mr. Chanda announced that all councillors in Kanchibiya will also join the UPND with him.<\/p>\n<p>Ms. Nakaponda said her decision was influenced by government programmes such as free education, while Mr. Chabinga emphasized that the people of Muchinga Province support President Hakainde Hichilema\u2019s development agenda.<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, Council Chairpersons from Nakonde, Chinsali, Shiwang\u2019andu, Isoka, Mafinga, and Kanchibiya have endorsed President Hichilema, describing the UPND as the party best placed to sustain development in the province.<\/p>\n<p>Ndola Central Member of Parliament Frank Tayali welcomed the defectors and urged party members to integrate them into UPND structures.<\/p>\n<p>President Hichilema reaffirmed that the UPND is an inclusive party that welcomes all citizens committed to national development.
