Africa-Press<\/a> – Zambia<\/a>. <\/strong><\/span>MAURITANIA have sacked head coach Corentin Da Silva Martins with immediate effect following a bizarre 0-0 draw with Tunisia in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers last Sunday.<\/p>\n

The Mourabitounes after the daw are currently languishing bottom of the standings in Group B after four rounds. Mauritania have managed to pick just one point from the four games having lost at home to Zambia and also at away to Equatorial Guinea and Tunisia.<\/p>\n

The Frenchman had been in charge of the Mauritanian team since October 2014 spanning 7 years. Martins carved a niche for himself as one of the best coaches of have handled the Mourabitounes when qualified the West African side to the Africa Cup of Nations for the very first time in 2019.<\/p>\n

The 52-year-old has already guided the Mourabitounes to secure a place in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations in Cameroon next year. Mauritania are drawn in Group F alongside Tunisia, Mali and debutants Gambia.<\/p>\n

Martins took charge of the Mauritania selection in 66 games of which he won 22, drew 15 and lost 28.
