Africa-Press – Zimbabwe. HARARE, Apr. 29 (NewsDay Live – The Geopolitics Series, a not-for-profit platform focused on global affairs through an African lens, will host the virtual 5th Edition of its forum under the theme “Forgotten Wars and Their Shadows.”
Dedicated to fostering sustainable solutions to global challenges, the organisation emphasises the critical need for Africa and Africans to assert greater influence in shaping international discourse, particularly as geopolitical dynamics continue to shift with profound consequences.
“We are excited to invite you to participate in the 5th Edition of the Geopolitics Series, themed: ‘Forgotten Wars and Their Shadows’,” the organisation said in a statement.
“This edition will shed light on overlooked conflicts with devastating impacts, focusing on crises in the Congo DRC, Great Lakes Region, Sudan and the Horn of Africa, Sahel region and West Africa, Haiti, and Africans in the Diaspora,” it added.
The upcoming session, scheduled for Wednesday, will feature high-profile speakers including Professor PLO Lumumba, Chairman and Founder of the PLO Lumumba Foundation and Advocate of the High Courts of Kenya and Tanganyika, and Claude Gatebuke, Executive Director of the African Great Lakes Action Network.
Against a backdrop of persistent instability across several African regions, organisers stress the urgent importance of fostering open dialogue around forgotten and ongoing conflicts.
They argue that effective conflict resolution, locally driven peace-building efforts, and re-centering African narratives are crucial for sustainable development and continental security.
By amplifying underreported crises and promoting dialogue, the Geopolitics Series aims to strengthen Africa’s voice on the global stage and encourage a more inclusive approach to addressing the root causes of conflict.
